Recumbent Stone Circle
National Grid Reference: NJ 716 057

How To Get There

From Echt follow the B9119 west for about 2 miles. The circle lies just up the hill from Sunhoney Farm. Visible from the road.

Sunhoney is around a mile to the east of the circle at Midmar Kirk. They are both well worth visiting for their own reasons.

After asking permission at the farm house we made our way up the hill and over to the peaceful copse of trees which surrounds the site. The circle is over 80 feet in diameter with the central space being quite uneven and marking the location of a central cairn now hidden by the turf.

The recumbent stone, shown below, is covered with cupmarks. It appears that the stone has fallen in toward the centre of the circle and quite a large chunk of it has broken off.
