How To Get There

Don't ask me! Seriously, we got rather lost in the process and ended up finding this one by luck more than judgement. It should be easy enough from Bryn-Celli-Ddu, but we had to head back into town for fuel before going out here. From Bryn-Celli-Ddu head back to Llandaniel Fab. Turn left and then take the second turn right. The site is on the northern side of this narrow lane. If it has grass growing in the middle of it then you're probably on the right road!

At last, the first cromlech to grace my pages. And we very nearly didn't find it. Yet again I fail to heed my own advice, "Always get a good map of the area"! Our trip to Anglesey was a bit of a rush, last minute decision so we relied on a road atlas. I will never do that again. We found that once you're off the main roads on Anglesey you can forget about sign posts. A number of the roads around here weren't even marked on our road atlas. This combined with the lack of sign posts made for a frustrating day.

Cromlechs are the denuded remains of burial chambers. The stones that you can see in the picture above would originally have been covered over with an earth mound. When the mound is eroded away you're left with a table like structure. In this case the capstone is 8 feet by 6 feet in size with the supporting stones standing 4 or 5 feet high
